Partnering with Tahoe Keys Marina

We're honored to partner with Tahoe Keys Marina as the host for our engineering partners

As a marine operation, appropriate entry to and exit from the water is critical for our removal efforts. Given the nature of the project, the site must also be appropriate size and space to accommodate large industrial barges, while minimizing disruption to existing boating activity.

What better spot than the largest marina in Lake Tahoe?

We had the pleasure to connect with marina management last year, and since the very first email they've demonstrated resounding support for this environmental effort. Over time, they've proven to be reliable and thoughtful operators. We're thrilled to have their partnership with our community effort.

Given the lead cables location in the southwest corner of Lake Tahoe, the location of the marina is also ideal. In previous iterations of the project, they were the preferred location for engineers. Previous government authorizations and permits were provided with Tahoe Keys Marina as a partner, so this critical step for our project ensures that the site has already been confirmed as appropriate more broadly.

As such, Tahoe Keys Marina's partnership with our community effort is really the extension of a multi-year commitment to hosting this critical environmental work. There have been many twists and turns as this situation evolved, and we're grateful for their consistency through it all. They've demonstrated true leadership when it comes to the long term sustainability of Lake Tahoe.

In executing our project, Tahoe Keys Marina will provide:

• Dry storage area for equipment

• Waterfront access available at the south bulkhead of the Marina

• Convenient access to the launch ramp for water vessels/equipment

• Designated area for storing trailers

In operating to and from the marina, its important to confirm that all appropriate precautions will be taken with the lead cables. This type of engineering work is highly regulated, and we are only considering partners with the requisite expertise. As discussed with these potential engineering partners, all contents will be wrapped on the barge and loaded into containers, trucks, and transported directly to our disposal partner. While we are execution-oriented, as a community-driven effort our first consideration is always local, and we will remain in step with all partners to reiterate our risk-averse approach to the project. While our singular goal is to get the lead out, it will never be "at all costs" be them financial or non-financial.

Another big thank you to everyone at Tahoe Keys Marina for all your diligence and support of removal efforts over the years!
